ELLIS -- Ellis Baptist Church has a new leader. Pastor Chad Pritchett relocated his family from Amarillo, Texas, to Ellis last week to begin his first call as the leader of a church.

An Alabama native, Pritchett is a military veteran and works for the Department of Veterans Affairs in addition to leading the Ellis Baptist congregation.

He received a master's degree in Bible theology from Louisiana Baptist University.

"The people here are truly amazing," Pritchett said after just a few days in Ellis. "The love they have not only for the church, but for the town --  we've been able to immediately come in and be a part of the family."

Pritchett and his wife, Tricia, have five children -- two are in college and three will enroll in Ellis schools this fall.

"We're extremely excited about the possibilities to be able to stay here and raise our kids," Pritchett said. "With the core group we have here, with the Lord's help, we can make an impact."

Pritchett said one of the largest contingents of youth from Ellis Baptist Church will attend camp next week, which he said has been encouraging and exciting.

Ellis Baptist Church has Sunday school at 10 a.m., followed by services at 11 a.m. Additional services are at 6 p.m. Sundays and 7 p.m. Wednesdays.
