'Iron Man' solid as steel
Title: "Iron Man" (PG-13).
Feature classification: action.
The cast: Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow.
Film synopsis: When wealthy industrialist Tony Stark is forced to build an armored suit after a life-threatening incident, he ultimately decides to use its technology to fight against evil.
Positive aspects: A solid cast gathering provides stability to the picture, with the performing members presenting their characters in a well-defined manner. Blowing away my initial skepticism, Downey settles quite comfortably into the suave role of Stark and portrays the man in the iron mask with complete conviction. The addition of Jeff Bridges shows up being a wise choice, as he offers a fine display of corruption and brings forth a villain that you love to hate. Each battle sequence exhibits high voltage, electrifying viewers with their excessive power while the visual effects instantly attract your attention with eye-catching expertise. The script boasts a wealth of intrigue and supports a stream of smart writing as opposed to the "campy" dialogue that plagued many movies from the past. I haven't read any of the comic books that the film is based upon. This gave me the advantage of judging the picture on its own merits instead of making comparisons to another source. I declare "Iron Man" strong as steel and a praised production.
Negative areas: None.
Reel rating: 5

Title: "Made of Honor" (PG-13).
Feature classification: romantic comedy.
The cast: Patrick Dempsey.
Film synopsis: A guy in love with an engaged woman tries to win her over after she asks him to be her maid of honor.
Positive aspects: The storyline is appealing as it brings an added twist to the romantic comedy realm. The ratio of humor and romance is adjusted in the manner that neither overshadows the other, with both elements perfectly distributed throughout the film. Each cast member presents their roles in a fashion that forms a fine shape, ultimately molding into an applauded ensemble. Dempsey in particular proves to be the right choice for the lead character, as his excessive charm and smooth comedic wit unveil a successful portrayal. A selection of notable tunes shows up with precision timing as they blend together to create a pleasing soundtrack.
Negative areas: Along with a fairly strong dose of predictability, a few other troubled spots are noticed during the movie. However, minimal damage is sustained with the errors basically sidestepped while the projector rolls out a highly enjoyed feature.
Reel rating: 4.5
