Title: "Meet Dave" (PG).
Feature classification: comedy.
The cast: Eddie Murphy.
Film synopsis: A crew of miniature aliens operate a spaceship that has a human form. While trying to save their planet, the aliens encounter a new problem, as their ship becomes smitten with an Earth woman
Positive aspects: Several comical moments surround the film as a variety of zany characters capture your interest and induce widespread laughter. Murphy is especially entertaining, with his comedic skills showing up in plain sight. Simply by using an assortment of goofy facial expressions and bumbling body gestures, Murphy commandeers the screen with his outrageous sense of humor.
Negative areas: The concept for the movie certainly draws attention. Unfortunately, the script delivers a supply of errors that brings about a negative response on the finished film. For example, some of the "romantic moments" are a bit too thick, while other injections come across as rather lame. Still, the crazy antics of Murphy provide plenty of amusement, proving Dave might be strange, but he's fun to hang out with.
Reel rating: 2.5.
