Andrew G. Klaus
Andrew G. Klaus, 81, Pratt, formerly of Victoria, and Hays, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Pratt Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 17, 1928, in Victoria to Andreas and Margaret (Wittman) Klaus.
He married Charlene M. (Weigel) on Sept. 5, 1951, in Victoria. She preceded him in death Dec. 14, 1999. He was a farmer, worked on pulling units in the oil fields for 30 years, and worked at the Hays Vine Street Dillon's for 10 years. He moved to Hays in 1988.
He was a member of St. Mary Knights of Columbus, Council No. 6984, Hays, St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays.
Survivors include three sons, Earl Klaus, Ness City, Ralph Klaus and wife, Annette, Wichita, and Pete Klaus and wife, Karen, Victoria; two sisters, Linda Covey and husband, Justin, Dodge City, and Diane Fakir and husband, Zak, Goddard; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a grandson, Jesse Davila; six brothers, Casper, Joseph, Edgar, Leo, Benedict and Al; four sisters, Angela Leiker, Catherine Jacobs, Emma Rajewski and Ellen Gerhardt; and four infant brothers and sisters.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, both at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601.
A vigil will be at 7 p.m. today, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m., both at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Building Fund or St. Fidelis Cemetery Fund in care of the mortuary.
