Anna Marie Fries
Anna Marie Fries, 92, Ellis, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at the Ellis Good Samaritan Center.
She was born on Jan. 26, 1917, in Rooks County, to John and Emma (Ast) Hoffman.
She was a school teacher prior to marrying Richard F. Fries on May 30, 1938. He preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and also worked at the Ellis Good Samaritan Center for 31 years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and WELCA.
Survivors include a daughter, Rita Slama and husband, Mark, Janesville, Minn.; a son, Richard Fries, Hays; three grandchildren, LeAnn Dow and husband, Dan, Burnsville, Minn., Jason Slama, Mankato, Minn., and Stacy Lane and husband, Troy, Minneapolis, Kan.; a step-grandson, Michael Fries, Minneapolis, Kan.; a great-granddaughter, Makenzie Slama, Minnesota; two sisters, Wahnetta Mills and husband, Arlin, Ellis, and Viola Deines and husband, Henry, WaKeeney; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Freda; and a brother, Fritz.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Keithley Funeral Chapel, Ellis; burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis.
The family will be present from 10:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
