'Breastfeeding Essentials' scheduled for Feb. 1

Hays Medical Center will host the program "Breastfeeding Essentials: Making It Work" from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at Hadley Conference Room No. 2. Registration will begin at 8:30 am.

Speakers for the program are Rachel Lynch and Heather Morgan of Stormont-Vail HealthCare and Libby Rosen of Baker University School of Nursing.

Topics will include the science and research supporting breastfeeding, support for initiation and continuation of breastfeeding, solutions for mother/baby challenges to successful breastfeeding, resources available to health care providers who work with breastfeeding families, and latch and positioning techniques.

The program is for RNs, LPNS and other interested health care professionals.

The fee for the program is $50. The fee for HaysMed and Pawnee Valley Community Hospital employees and Critical Access Hospital employees is $30.

Continuing credit is available for the program.
