Brother Eugene Pellegrino
Brother Eugene, O.F.M. Cap., 73, Denver, died Saturday, May 3, 2008.
He was born Jan. 10, 1935, to Joseph and Madeline (Ioandi) Pellegrino.
He made first profession of vows Aug. 22, 1952, and was then trained in various manual arts, but his forte became cooking. In 1956, he spent 14 years at head chef in Annapolis, Washington and Victoria. He was asked to assist in various ways in St. Francis High School Seminary, Victoria, as infirmarian, assistant admission director, and perhaps most importantly for him, as stage manager for various dramatic productions. He also was parish moderator of CYO and a CCD instructor.
When the minor seminary and a military academy in Hays were merged into Thomas More Prep in 1970, he moved to the new prep school as a religious teacher and member of the student life team. There he became involved in writing, directing and producing stage events. He studied religion teaching for teens at Avila College in Kansas City and drama and theology at Marymount College.
Survivors include a brother, Joe; and two sisters, Eleanor and Fran.
Services will be at 8 a.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
A prayer will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at St. Patrick Chapel, 33rd and Pecos.
Memorials are suggested to Capuchin Province of Mid-America Inc., P.O. Box 40575, Denver, 80204, in care of the chapel.
