One hurt in three-vehicle accident

COLBY -- One person was hurt in a three-vehicle accident at 4:22 p.m. Wednesday just west of Colby.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Tina Diane Hansen, 47, Colby, lost control while eastbound on U.S. Highway 24 and went into the westbound lane.

A westbound 2006 Ford pickup driven by Charles M. Plumisto, 58, Colby, swerved into the eastbound lane to miss Hansen and struck a third vehicle -- a 1997 GMC pickup driven by Michael C. Schmeiser, 46, Colby -- head-on.

Plumisto was taken to Citizens Medical Center in Colby for treatment of injuries.

The KHP reported all three drivers were wearing seat belts.
