The Ingalls girls capped a perfect season with a state championship Saturday by defeating Norwich 37-22 in the finals of the Class 1A Division II state basketball tournament at Gross Memorial Coliseum.

In a game of runs, Ingalls (26-0) jumped out to a 14-1 lead to start the game and never trailed. Norwich (24-2) made several comebacks and pulled to within three, 16-13, late in the first half. But that was as close as the Eagles would get.

Led by a total team effort, the Bulldogs stretched the lead back to double digits in the fourth quarter. They were led in scoring by junior Tara Whipple with a game-high 12 points. Norwich was led by senior Mackenzie Klaver with seven points and 16 rebounds.
