Trego teen wins scholarship

The Courtney-Spalding Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently presented Dona Diec, Trego Community High School, with a $100 scholarship for winning the essay portion of the Chapter's Good Citizen contest.
Invitations to participate in this contest were extended to 16 area high schools with eight responding. Each of the schools selected one senior, based upon their qualities of dependability, leadership and patriotism, as their Good Citizen.
Other area students selected as their schools' Good Citizen were: Kyle Grose, Western Plains High School; Preston Werth, Thomas More Prep-Marian High School; Anna Marie Juenemann, Colby High School; Elizabeth Pfeiffer, La Crosse High School; Alyese Crist, Quinter High School; Joshua Munsch, Hays High School; and Amanda Casey, Plainville High School. The winning essay and other contest material submitted by Diec have been forwarded for further competition and judging at the state level.
