Danielle L. Poland, 45, Hoisington, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born Oct. 7, 1962, Hays to Daniel F. and Cecilia (Leiker) Schmidt. She was a graduate of Hays High School and Fort Hays State University with a master of science degree in education.

She married Dennis Poland on July 13, 1985, in Hays. She was high school principal at Claflin USD 354.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, and Association Secondary School Principals and United School Administrators.

Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Darin Poland, of the home; a daughter, Darci Poland, of the home; her mother, Cecilia Schmidt, Hays; a brother, Daniel Schmidt, Albany, Ore.; and three sisters, Diane Radke, Tulsa, Okla., Debra Brecheisen, North Bend, Ore., and Donna Schmidt, Topeka.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dan F. Schmidt, and a brother, David Schmidt.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington; graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

An additional service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Claflin High School Auditorium .

A wake will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by an Altar Society rosary, both at the church.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday, both at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
