By The Hays Daily News
GREAT BEND -- The Hays Eagles Legion baseball team swept Great Bend on the road Tuesday, winning 12-1, in four innings, and 9-2.
Brady Bieker (2-1) pitched all four innings of Game 1 for Hays, allowing five hits, no walks and the one earned run with two strikeouts. The Eagles scored six runs in the top of the first inning, with Kade Parker's two-RBI double and Kaden Rohr's two-RBI single doing most of the damage.
Hays added two runs each in the second, third and fourth innings to put the run-rule into play, Great Bend's only run coming in the bottom of the third on a single.
Parker led the Eagles at the plate, going 2 for 2 with two runs and three RBI.
Marcus Altman (3-1) earned the win in Game 2, pitching four innings while allowing two hits and one earned run. The teams played through a scoreless first before Hays pushed three runs across in the second, two coming on a two-RBI single by Cole Schumacher.
Hays led 5-2 entering the top of the sixth inning before it tacked on four final runs, half coming on a two-RBI single by Parker.
Trenton Henningsen and Bieker finished the final three innings on the mound for Hays.
Schumacher, Parker and Henningsen each finished with two RBI each to lead the team, Parker's three runs a team best.
Hays, now 17-6, was scheduled to face Dodge City today, but that doubleheader was called off. The Eagles will play host to the Wild West Festival Tournament beginning Friday at Larks Park, HHS and TMP Fields.
