Elaine E. Hovorka, 58, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Hemingford Community Care Center, Hemingford, Neb.

She was born April 30, 1950, in Russell to Marvin and Helen (Boxberger) Bender. She was a 1968 graduate of Russell High School. She graduated from Emporia State College.

She married John J. Hovorka on Aug. 24, 1980, in Russell. He preceded her in death Feb. 4, 1997. She was a second- and third-grade teacher at Lucas-Luray Elementary School.

Survivors include a brother, Larry Bender, Russell; and two sisters, Wanda Dimitt, Russell, and Joyce Bentley, Cabool, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, twin infant children, John J. Hovorka, Jr., and Faith Hope Hovorka on March 13, 1992, and an infant in 1993.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John United Lutheran Church, Alliance, Neb.; burial in Hemingford Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bates-Gould Funeral Home, Alliance, Neb..

Memorials are suggested to Bender Hill Cemetery in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
