Ellis to consider county sales tax agreement

ELLIS -- The Ellis City Council will discuss an interlocal agreement for a proposed county sales tax in its regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday at city hall.

At a council meeting earlier this month, Ellis County representatives gave a presentation for the proposed 0.5-percent sales tax, and asked the city to contribute its share of revenue to the county for the proposed projects -- construction of an EMS/Rural Fire building and improvements to the county jail, Law Enforcement Center and courthouse.

Among other business items, the council will:

* Give consideration to a new police vehicle.

* Discuss water conservation issues.

* Discuss engineers for capital improvement projects.

* Receive reports from city officials.
