Elson Eugene Cook
Elson Eugene Cook, 85, Russell, died Monday, June 16, 2014, at Main Street Manor, Russell.
He was born Jan. 31, 1929, in Clay Center, Neb., to Cecil Eugene and Margaret Catherine (Urbach) Cook. He was a 1947 graduate of Clay Center High School.
He married Valerie Vanderbur on Jan. 28, 1951, in Russell. He was owner and operator of a dairy farm north of Russell for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, of the home; two sons, Kevin Cook, Wichita, and Keith Cook, Spring, Texas; two daughters, Rebecca Finnegan, Russell, and Carolyn Toalson, Broken Arrow, Okla.; two brothers, Wayne Cook, North Las Vegas, Nev., and Jim Cook, Clay Center, Neb.; two sisters, Mary Ann McClanahan, Tucson, Ariz., and Faye Sherlock, Wayne, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell; cremation will follow the service.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with family present to greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Research Foundation in care of the mortuary.
