Tiger baseball goes 1-2 at Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University baseball team used five pitchers in Saturday's game against Lindenwood (Mo.) Unviersity, but couldn't slow down a hot day for the Lions, as the Tigers fell 20-4 in MIAA action.

Lindenwood put up a 12-run fourth inning to move to 8-11 overall and 8-7 in MIAA play. Fort Hays dropped to 11-9, 8-8.

Of Lindenwood's 20 runs, 18 were earned as each of the five Tigers surrerdered at least two earned runs. Nathan Zimmerman and Michael Ediefson each allowed five.

The Tigers split Friday's doubleheader with Lindenwood.

The Tigers won the first game 2-0, but lost the second contest, 14-4.

FHSU scored single runs in the second and fourth innings and Alex Ellison earned the victory. Ellison went six innings, allowing seven hits and a walk and improved to 2-3. Kyle Leroy picked up the save in the seventh inning. Shane Wade delivered a RBI double and Jay Sanders recorded a run-scoring single.

In Game 2, Lindenwood finished off the game by run rule in seven innings. The Lions scored 10 runs in the final four innings to break a 4-4 tie. Tayler Davis (2-2) allowed eight runs, all earned, and six hits in 3.2 innings to take the loss. The Tigers had six hits and Jordan Miller drove in two runs.
