MIAA golf tourney's second day cancelled

SMITHVILLE, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University women's golf team, the defending MIAA champion, finished ninth in the conference tournament after the second day was cancelled due to weather. The men's squad was 12th out of 12 teams after Day 1.

The Tiger women shot 354 after the first day, while University of Central Oklahoma had a 301. Senior Carmen Thompson and sophomore Sami Hobson led the team with 85s and tied for 28th individually.

The men played 36 holes with scores of 310 and 309. Sophomore Trey Herman tied for 12th after rounds of 72 and 76. Central Oklahoma's first day total of 586 completed a sweep for the Bronchos of the MIAA crowns.
