FHSU track competes at MIAA Indoor

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University track and field teams took part in the MIAA Indoor championships during the weekend at Missouri Southern State University. The FHSU women finished eighth in the team standings with 36.5 points.
Samantha Woodburn bested her own school record and finished second in the 60-meter dash in 7.61 seconds. In the 200 dash, she took fourth place. She broke the school record of 24.14 in the prelims and then posted a 25.18 in the finals. Sam Szczublewski broke her own school mark in the 600 run with a 1:25.06. Woodburn lowered her provisional marks in each event. Kathryn Doll posted 3,323 points to lower her provisional mark in the pentathlon. Ashli Dryden had a new provisional mark in the triple jump (38-1.5) and Anna Eigruber improved her qualifying mark in the same event (39-2.5).
The men finished last with 24.7 points. In the 60-meter dash, Nate Simpson finished fourth in 8.4 seconds and Cory Keehn took fifth in the 5,000-meter run in 14:53.74. Brady Tien was fourth place and Brett Ottley sixth place in the pole vault. Both improved their provisional mark. Tien vaulted 16-2, while Ottley lept 15-10.
