FHSU volleyball ends season with loss

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University volleyball team's season came to an end Saturday with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-17) loss to the University of Central Missouri.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 14-19 overall and 3-13 in the MIAA. Central Missouri moved to 29-1, 15-1 in MIAA play.

Sara Hewson and Taylor Mares each had seven kills to lead the way for the Tigers. Mares hit .286 for the match. Jenna Ulrich hit .273 with three kills. Hewson and Makenzie Weinman had 12 digs each, and Libby Ary finished with 19 assists.

Carly Sojka hit .407 and had 13 kills for the Jennies.

On Friday, the Tigers defeated Oklahoma-Panhandle State University, 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-13) in the final home game of the season. Panhandle fell to 4-26. Ulrich had eight kils and hit .467 for the match. Camille Hubert had six kills. Ary finished with 11 assists and Raegan Vanderplas had 12. Hubert had 10 digs.
