Mason shines in FHSU opener

Chelsea Mason, a transfer from NCAA Division I Kennesaw State University, scored a game-high 32 points in her Fort Hays State University debut in a 94-55 season-opening road victory at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Mason shot 60 percent from the
field and 5 of 9 from long range.
Multiple players contributed in the victory, including 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists from senior Katelyn Edwards. Junior center Kate Lehman picked up two quick fouls, but finished with nine points, six rebounds and five blocks.
Senior Tera Ingalsbe recorded nine points and five rebounds. Fort Hays never trailed, but led 44-33 at the break before a 33-8 run broke the game open. Fort Hays has won 10 straight season openers and is 6-0 at season openers under coach Tony Hobson.
Fort Hays will open its home schedule with a noon contest Saturday against Oklahoma Panhandle State University at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
