Even though it rained May 11, we shouldn't think it means we got out of our drought. I would encourage all residents of Ellis County to continue to conserve water. I'd also recommend all of Ellis County to purchase water-conserving toilets, low-flow shower heads and also washing machines that do not require as many gallons of water.
We also should continue to discourage watering lawns for long periods of time.
Hopefully we will receive more rain in the coming summer weeks, but the more we use water, the less likely we are to recover from the drought -- and we will have even more restrictions on water usage.
