Felicitas Gabel, 95, Hays, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Hays Good Samaritan Center Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 15, 1912, in Munjor to Jacob and Anna (Groff) Pfannenstiel.

She married Hilarius Gabel on Oct. 21, 1930, in Munjor. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1995. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays.

Survivors include a daughter, Benita Befort, Hays; two sisters, Helen Brungardt, Victoria, and Germaine Schuetz, Hays; a son-in-law, Alfred Walters, Aurora, Colo.; four grandchildren, Kayleen Bittel and husband, Robert, and Karen Thomason and husband, Steve, all of Hays, Lee Ann Hendricks and husband, Troy, Wichita. and Alan Walters and wife, Debbie, Chicago; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Erma Lee Walters, a son-in-law, Donald J. Befort, four brothers, Isadore, John, Alois and Peter Pfannenstiel, and two sisters, Pauline Werth and Phillipa Leiker.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays; burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Munjor.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, both at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Society or Masses in care of the funeral home.
