HHS golf wins at Salina By The Hays Daily News

SALINA — The Hays High School boys’ golf team won the Salina South Invitational on Friday at Salina Municipal Golf Course.

Hays High finished in a tie for first with Derby at 315, getting its scoring from junior Kaden Beilman (75), senior Ryan Unruh (78), sophomore Cash Hobson (81) and freshman Payton Ruder (81).

Chase Lynd shot an 82 and Nathan Romme finished with an 83. Romme’s 83 bested Derby’s sixth golfer by one stroke to give Hays High the win.

Beilman’s 72 landed him in a tie for second place, but the junior finished third on a scorecard playoff, and Unruh ended up fifth. The two were the only medalists for Hays High.

Salina Central was third with a 319, Newton fourth (323) and Salina South fifth (340).

Salina South’s Ben Hargrave won the individual title with a 73. Hobson and Ruder tied for 12th place, respectively, while Lynd finished 16th and Romme 20th. Seventh golfer, junior Lane Clark, finished with an 83 for the Indians.
