HHS girls win at McPherson

McPHERSON -- The Hays High School girls' cross country team took first place at the McPherson Invitational on Thursday. Marie Reveles led the Indians with a time of 17 minutes, 53 seconds to take second place.

Haley George finished fifth in18:10. Summer Smith (11th) and Alyssa Bryant (13th) also medaled for Hays High, with times of 18:35 and 19:03, respectively.

Hays High finished with a team score of 47, well ahead of second-place Buhler's 66.

The Indian boys took second place as a team with a 74, falling short of El Dorado's 61.

Three Indians medaled, led by Zachary Hopp's 9th-place time of 19:20. Hunter Bizzell took 11th with a 19:27 and Landon Munsch took 14th in 19:36.

Hays High also had runners win each of the junior varsity races. Lieacha Cook won the girls' JV race with a time of 20:58, while Ryan Fort won the boys' JV race in 20:52.

Next for Hays High is a trip to Junction City on Oct. 5.
