HHS cross country competes at Junction City

JUNCTION CITY -- The Hays High School girls' & boys' cross country teams competed Saturday in the Junction City Invitational. The Indian girls finished seventh out of 10 teams and the boys 10th out of 10.
Marie Reveles led the Indian girls with a 16th-place finish in a time of 16 mintues, 19 seconds. Haley George also finished in the top 30 in 17:01.
Maize won the team title with Manhattan and Maize South second and third, respectively.
Summer Smith (44th, 17:41), Reagen Kaiser (47th, 18:11), Alyssa Bryant (49th, 18:24), Bailee Leiker (55th) and Lieacha Cook (57th) also competed in the varsity race. Wendy Zimmerman led the Indians' JV squad, finishing 19th in 18:52.
On the boys' side, the Indians scored 215 points to finish last. Manhattan won the event with 17, followed by Maize (86) and Derby (111).
Landon Munsch paced the Indians with a 33rd-place time of 18:11, followed by Zachary Hopp (38th, 18:20), Kendall Kandt (44th, 18:33), Ethan Shippy (48th, 18:41), Dylan Schmitt (58th, 19:09) and Austin Chambers (61st, 19:16).
Ryan Fort paced the Indians' JV squad with a 19:16.
The Indians' next action is Saturday at 10 a.m. at Salina Central.
