HaysMed passes accreditation surveys

Hays Medical Center has completed its annual DNV Healthcare NIAHO and ISO survey. HaysMed continues to be a fully accredited facility compliant with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid.
HaysMed first was accredited by DNV Healthcare in 2008 and is one of only two hospitals in Kansas with this distinction. HaysMed is the only hospital in Kansas that is ISO accredited by DNV Healthcare.
DNV is the only accrediting body for U.S. hospitals to combine the Medicare conditions of participation with the ISO 9001 quality management system into a unified accreditation program.
"While the core CMS requirements are an excellent framework for patient safety, the addition of ISO helps promote innovation and constant forward movement across our hospital," said Dr. Larry Watts, chief medical officer.
"The requirements help us focus on reducing variation and ensuring consistency across the entire facility."
DNV conducts hospital surveys annually to increase collaboration and promote continual improvement across departments. Hospitals participating in their process improve quality and risk management and also the ability to sustain quality performance through determining areas of focus and writing individualized action plans.
"Overall we are able to improve work flow management, reduce costs and ultimately improve health care outcomes for our patients," Watts said.
