Harold Stieben, 77, Hays, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born May 7, 1930, in Hays to Paul and Katherine (Herdt) Stieben. He was a 1948 graduate of Trego Community High School.

He married Martha (Scherr) Stieben on Aug. 27, 1960, in Denver. He was a U.S Navy veteran.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Sean Stieben, Aurora, Colo., and Joey Paul Stieben, Jackpot, Nev.; a daughter, Kathy Barringer, Ellis; a brother, Gene Stieben, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney; inurnment in WaKeeney City Cemetery, with military honors by U.S. Navy Color Guard, Wichita, and American Legion Riders Post No. 173, Hays.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Childrens Hospital in care of the funeral home.
