Lauren Hemphill and Shane Bird, along with their families, are pleased to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

Parents of the couple are Tyler Hemphill, Stockton, the late Michelle Fisher, and Ron and Leona Bird, Plainville.

Grandparents of the couple are Loren and Marge Hemphill and Don and Mary Ann Fisher, all of Plainville; Wanda Bird, Pratt, the late Albert Bird; Glenn and Susan Rutherford, Brownsville, Texas; and the late Betty Lawrence and James Lawrence.

Great-grandparents are Ivan and Melva Adams, Pratt.

The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Plainville High School. She is employed at Quest Diagnostics, Hays.

The prospective bridegroom is a 2000 graduate of PHS and plans to graduate from Fort Hays State University in December. He is employed at Creative Dimensions and Oberlin USD 294.

An April 3, 2010, wedding is planned at First Christian Church, Plainville.
