Herman on to match play at Kansas Amateur
By The Hays Daily News
KANSAS CITY -- Trey Herman, a junior-to-be on the Fort Hays State golf team and Hays High graduate, finished atop the stroke play qualifying at the 103rd Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship on Wednesday.
Herman shot a two-round score of 136 to finish 3-under par, a stroke ahead of St. Louis' Kyle Weldon. The stroke play whittled the field from 156 golfers to 64, which will now compete in a match play tournament to determine the champion.
Herman was paired with Topeka's Gary Lucas today to begin match play, getting the first tee time at 7:30 a.m. The tournament runs through Sunday at the Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills.
