Victoria preparing for Herzogfest celebration

VICTORIA -- Herzogfest 2013 is planned for Aug. 9 and 10 in Victoria City Park and downtown Victoria.
Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. Aug. 9 with fun cycles, banana bikes and free swimming. Galen Schmidtberger and Joe Dolezal will entertain on the small stage at 5:30 p.m.
A free main stage concert by LoCash Cowboys will be at 9:30 p.m. Paramount will open for the country act at 7:30 p.m.
The festival will continue Aug. 10 with a 5K run/walk at 7:45 a.m., followed by a parade at 9:30 a.m. There will be a welcome ceremony at 10 a.m.
Other games and activities will include three-on-three basketball, horseshoes, bingo, pinochle, fun cycles, banana bikes, inflatables, a kids' pedal pull, "Let's Make a Herzog Deal," and free swimming.
The annual polka mass will be at 4 p.m. followed by the Wes Windholz Band at 5:15 p.m. Jimmy Dee and the Fabulous Destinations will perform at 9:30 p.m.
If weather allows, there will be hot air balloon tether rides in the evening.
The fourth annual rod, custom and cycle show also will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 10, followed by awards.
Vendors will be serving food, drink and other merchandise during the two-day event.
