LAKIN -- Twelve-year-old Megan Flavin, a swimmer for the Hays Hurricanes swim club, broke the pool record in the 50 free on Saturday at a Western Kansas Swim Club meet in Lakin. Flavin swam the event in 28.66 seconds, breaking the previous record of 28.96 seconds held by former Hurricanes swimmer Amanda Groff. Flavin finished first in four events: 50 free, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 100 freestyle, while taking second in the 50 butterfly.

Ana Goodlett, a sophomore-to-be at Hays High School, had the Hurricane's only other first-place finish, winning the 100 freestyle. She also took second in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke.
