ATCHISON, Kan. (AP) -- MGP Ingredients has postponed its annual stockholders meeting amid a call for new leadership.
KMAN reports that the meeting was scheduled for Friday in Atchison, where MPG is based. The company makes starches, proteins and food-grade alcohol from grains.
But on Thursday, the Kansas Court of Appeals granted the company's request to temporarily stop the meeting from happening. Some stockholders didn't get word in time and showed up at the meeting only to see a posted noted notifying them of the cancellation.
The stockholders who showed up met informally. KMAN reported that unaudited, unofficial proxy numbers showing a five to one vote in favor of new board members.
