Larks' streak ends with loss to Liberal

The Hays Larks' 11-game winning streak came to a halt Wednesday as Hays fell 6-2 to the visiting Liberal Bee Jays at Larks Park.
Liberal plated five unearned runs to break a scoreless tie in the sixth inning, and Liberal starter Tyler Wiedenfeld kept Hays hitless through five innings.
Hays starter Jeff Chesnut (1-1) took a tough-luck loss as he allowed five unearned runs after an error in the sixth. Hays went through five pitchers in the game, and didn't record a hit until Elvin Rodriguez' double in the sixth. Hays scored one run in the sixth on an RBI fly out by Aaron Cornell, and in the eighth on an RBI single by Rodriguez.
Hays fell to 14-2 overall and 10-2 atop the Jayhawk League. Liberal snapped a four-game losing streak, and improved to 9-7, 5-7 in
Hays is off Thursday before it travels to Derby for a three-game league series against the Twins.
