Lawrence Robert Smith, 93, Russell, formerly of Gorham, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Wheatland Nursing Center, Russell.

He was born Dec. 16, 1914, south of Gorham. He was a 1932 graduate of Russell High School.

He married Cleta Pratt on May 8, 1960, in Hays. She preceded him in death June 2, 1977. He later married Dorothy White in 1982. She preceded him death in 1991. He later married Norma Corenne Bumgardner on April 6, 1991, in Russell. She preceded him in death June 8, 1991. He was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include a brother, Bill Smith, Hoxie.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, west of Gorham, with military rites by the Russell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6240 and local Order of the Eastern Star.

Memorials are suggested to Wheatland Nursing Center or South Wind Hospice in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
