It will be a merry, musical Christmas for both country and classic rock fans.
The Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts, 151 S. Santa Fe, announced holiday shows Monday featuring country superstar Trace Adkins and former Doobie Brothers singer Michael McDonald.
Adkins will bring "history, humor and carols" to his "Christmas Show 2014" at 8 p.m. Dec. 6. The family-friendly theatrical production will feature songs from Adkins' 2013 Celtic-flavored Christmas album "The King's Gift," along with performances of Christmas classics, fireside storytelling with Adkins' historical and humorous narration and lush instrumentation from his 12-piece "Sarepta Symphony."
Adkins performed a sold-out concert at the Stiefel Theatre in April 2012.
Tickets for Adkins' concert start at $62.50. Each ticket buyer will be emailed a digital download of "The King's Gift."
McDonald will perform "Holiday Songs and Hits" at 8 p.m. Dec. 16. Tickets start at $57.
McDonald's soulful and distinctive voice has been featured on numerous hits by classic rock legends The Doobie Brothers, including "What a Fool Believes," "Takin' It To the Streets," "It Keeps You Runnin,' " and "Minute by Minute," as well as solo hits such as "I Keep Forgettin'." He also has recorded with many other artists, including Steely Dan, Ray Charles, Elton John, Joni Mitchell and Vince Gill.
His 2005 Christmas album, "Through the Many Winters," sold 500,000 copies in its first two weeks.
Tickets for both shows will go on sale to the public at 9 a.m. June 27. Tickets for Stiefel Friends members go on sale Wednesday.
