Ostmeyer will chair Senate committee
TOPEKA -- Sen. Ralph Ostmeyer, R-Grinnell, has been named chairman of the Federal and State Affairs Committee.
The 40th District senator also will serve as a member on the Education, Agriculture and Natural Resources committees.
"Federal and State Affairs deals with a variety of important issues," Senate President-elect Susan Wagle, R-Wichita, said. "I am pleased to have Sen. Ostmeyer steering the ship. He will ensure that the Senate will have a strong position on each of these issues."
"I am honored to serve on a diverse group of committees that need a strong western Kansas voice," Ostmeyer said. "I am looking forward to working on several issues that are important to our state."
The 2013 Legislative session will open at 2 p.m. Jan. 14.
