Paul Fairbanks Van Dyke

Paul Fairbanks Van Dyke, 88, Plainville, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 11, 1923, in Woodston to George Harmon and Edith Mae (Fairbanks) Van Dyke. He was a 1941 graduate of Plainville High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Kansas.

He married Yvonne V. Veverka on June 8, 1949, in Plainville. He was a banker, serving as president, at Plainville State Bank. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, John William Van Dyke, Plainville; two daughters, Paula K. Waldrop, Los Alamitos, Calif., and Karen V. Travis, Danville, Calif.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church of Plainville; burial in Plainville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, both at Mosher-Kemp Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 190, Plainville, KS 67663.
