Premium plan

I just listened to the president this noon hour discussing his plans for health care. Quite impressive. As I thought about his plans, it made me more sure of continuing on with plans to start a new auto insurance company to be based here in Hays. There are several investors who have expressed interest in joining this start up company.

We propose to only insure automobiles and motorcycles. As most companies look at previous claims history and driving records, we feel this is not the way to provide needed coverage. Many times clients are just in the wrong spot at the wrong time. Wouldn't it be more fair to offer coverage to everyone for the same premium? I do know that young people now pay a much higher premium even though they have not had an accident yet. We do not feel that should continue. I also know of a few clients who have had a couple of DUI tickets and they also are penalized. Why should they have to pay higher premiums? I believe it would be more fair to not charge higher premiums until they have an accident. And I am not for sure if we should even then.

Which brings us to the best part of the new insurance company. If an individual has existing damage to their car and writes their insurance with us, we will provide coverage for that damage and have the car repaired -- at no additional premium adjustment. Your annual premium will be the same as your neighbor who has had no tickets, accidents or claims. "Fairness Insurance" will be the company's name, and we will keep the premiums low. We will be asking the state insurance department to help offset any business losses we might incur.

Thank you, and God bless America
