Sam Paylor, 88, formerly of Holdenville, Okla., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Andbe Home, Norton.
He was born July 19, 1925, in Bilby, Okla., to Orvel and Marie (Carter) Paylor. He was a 1948 graduate of Oklahoma State University.
He married Virginia Lee Cumbie on July 31, 1947, in Aspermont, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1985. He was a well-known horseman and cattleman throughout the country, managing ranches for Arthur Godfrey, J.C. Penney, Latt Maxie Corp., and the latest being CK Ranch at Brookville.
He was a member of Church of Christ.
Survivors include four daughters, Judith Sawyer, Gainsville, Fla., Samette Rolland and husband, Gary, Norton, Sandra Westra and husband, David, Kansas City, Mo., and Traci Wilson and husband, Jeff, Lee's Summit, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Andrew Paylor; a daughter, Cindy Lou Negus; and two sisters, Louella Parsons and Velda Gordon.
Services will be at a later date in Oklahoma.
