TMP baseball rolls past Ellis

ELLIS -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian baseball team cruised past Ellis High School in a doubleheader on Tuesday, winning by scores of 20-2 and 12-0.
Game 1 lasted three innings, with TMP scoring five runs in the first inning, seven in the second and eight in the third. The Monarchs outhit the Railers 18-3.
Liam Stults took the win on the mound for TMP. He pitched all three innings, striking out five batters and walking two. Scott Pfeifer took the loss for Ellis.
Sophomore Ricky Hockett was the most efficient TMP bat, with three hits in three at-bats, with two runs and three RBI. Ryan Schippers led the team with four RBI going 2 for 4 at the plate. Seven different TMP batters finished with at least two hits and nine different players scored at least two runs.
In game 2, junior Kameron Schmidt threw a complete game, five inning one-hitter in TMP's 12-0 win, striking out nine batters along the way. Brandon Bollig took the loss for Ellis.
TMP's Braiden Werth did the most damage at the plate in Game 2, going 3-4 with three runs and four RBI.
TMP is now 5-1 this season. The Monarchs will play Hoisington in a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday in their home opener.
