TMP boys third at Phillipsburg

PHILLIPSBURG -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian boys' track and field team took third at the Phillipsburg Invitational on Friday, while the TMP girls finished in sixth. The TMP boys had 92 points, behind first-place Beloit (150 points) and second-place Phillipsburg (114 points). Beloit also won the girls' side with 127.66 points, Concordia second with 92.5 points and Phillipsburg third with 76.5 points.
The Monarch boys had three first-place finishers: Sophomore Andrew Hess in the 3,200-meter run (10 minutes, 52.85 seconds), senior Aaron Moore in the discus (140 feet), and junior Cameron Fouts in the javelin (166-1).
TMP senior Ryan Mayorga finished second in the high jump (6-2) and senior Skyler Urban second in the triple jump (40-8), an event won by Phillipsburg senior Grant Wickham (45-2.25).
Phillipsburg junior Stuart Lennemann had first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (11.15 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (22.69 seconds). Panther senior Trey Ellis took first in the 400-meter dash (50.25), senior Hunter Kohler first in the 300-meter hurdles (41.11) and the Phillipsburg boys' 400-meter relay team first in 42.95 seconds.
The Panthers also took first and second in the long jump, Wickham winning with a distance of 20-11, junior Sam Sage second with 19-3.5. Norton's Austin Hager won the pole vault with a height of 13-6.
Sophomore Melissa Pfeifer led the TMP girls by finishing first in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:49.80. Pfeifer also took second in the 800-meter run in 2:34.48.
Other notable area finishers were: Russell's Lena Wedel in the 100-meter dash (13.43), Russell's Samantha Ptacek in the 200-meter dash (27.34), Russell's Alaina Gfeller in the 400-meter dash (1:02.91), Norton's Darcy Bainter in the 3,200-meter run (13:05.08), Norton's Bailey Ambrosier in the pole vault (9-6), Gfeller in the long jump (16-5), Phillipsburg's Shania Wilkison in the triple jump (33-3.25), and Smith Center's Drew Mann in the javelin (109-6).
The Russell girls also won the 1,600-meter relay in 4:18.09 and Norton won the 3,200-meter relay in 10:37.82.
