Vera Mae (Prediger) Wanek, 85, Russell, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Dorrance to Reinhardt and Elsie (Kaps) Prediger. She graduated from Dorrance High School.

She married Junior Franklin Wanek on Sept. 13, 1947, in Dorrance. She was a teller at Home State Bank until retirement.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, of the home; a daughter, Linda Wanek, San Francisco; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell; burial in Dorrance City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.

Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church or Russell Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in care of the mortuary.
