Ken and Beth Walizer, Russell, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jennifer Walizer, to Toby Surber, son of T.K. Jones, Edgerton, and Tony and Verna Carey, Kansas City.

Grandparents of the couple are Wilma Marshall, and Larry and Colleen Walizer, all of Russell, the late Bernard Marshall, Leota Surber, Gardner, and the late Richard E. Surber.

The bride-elect attended school in Russell and earned a bachelor's degree in business. She is a bartender-manager on duty at Tanner Sports Bar & Grill, Kansas City, Kan.

The prospective bridegroom attended school in Ottawa. He is an operating engineer at O'Donnell & Sons, Kansas City.

A Sept. 19, 2009, wedding is planned at Pilgrim Chapel, Kansas City, Mo.
