SHARON SPRINGS -- For the first time since 2007, the Wallace County High School football team will compete in the Eight-Man Division II state championship game.
The unbeaten Wildcats, ranked No. 2 in the statewide media poll, knocked off previously unbeaten Beloit/St. John's-Tipton, 31-6 Saturday afternoon.
The win moves the Wildcats to 12-0 and they will face 12-0 and top-ranked Baileyville-B&B in Saturday's 3 p.m. state title game at Fischer Field in Newton.
The Wildcats led 23-6 at halftime and St. John's-Tipton had two chances to score in the second half, but failed on fourth down once and fumbled at the goal line. Wallace County punched in a long run in the fourth quarter to set the final margin.
