Willard P. 'Will' Staab
Willard P. "Will" Staab, 74, Omaha, Neb., formerly of North Platte, Neb., Grand Island, Neb., Wichita, Littleton, Colo., and Hays, died Aug. 9, 2012, at Josie Harper Hospice House, Omaha. He was diagnosed with Myeloid Leukemia in July 2012, three weeks before his death.
He was born Dec. 6, 1937, in Victoria to Charles and Pia (Geist) Staab. He was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph Military School and a 1963 graduate of Fort Hays State College, both at Hays. He received a master's degree in 1972 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
He married Patricia Wiesner on June 24, 1957, in Hays. He was a manager in telecommunications and retired in 1990 from Northwest Bell-Quest, Omaha. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Omaha.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Thomas Staab and wife, Michelle, Littleton; two daughters, Cindi Gredys and husband, Paul, Louisville, Neb., and Rebecca Staab, Los Angeles; three brothers, Kenneth Staab and wife, Charlene, Topeka, Wayne Staab and wife, Lou, Dammeron Valley, Utah, and Lyle Staab and wife, Ann Marie, Hawthorn Woods, Ill.; three sisters, Twila Herrman and husband, Alex, La Crosse, Donna Fisher and husband, Bob, Marysville, and Carol Eilas and husband, Jim, Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Ross Gredys, Hannah Johnson, Amelia Gredys, Luke Staab, Ali Staab and Joe Staab; and a great-grandchild, Henry Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were Aug. 17 at his church in Omaha. Additional services will be at 2 p.m. May 25 at Clines Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601; inurnment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays, with military honors by Hays VFW Post No. 9076.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. May 25 at the mortuary.
