Hays Medical Center Imaging Center and Education Department will sponsor the 2013 Radiology Seminar on Nov. 16. The program will be in the HaysMed Hadley Conference Room No. 2. The presentation will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Speakers include Jamie Smith, RT(S), Vivek Sharma, MD, Duke Eldridge, MS, Toni Boyles, CEO, Ann Nicole Spray, APRN, Jessica Albers, RN, MSFS and Carol Groen, RN, MSN.
Topics to be covered include abdominal aortic aneurysms, CT imaging's role in a successful patient care plan, fluoroscopy in the OR, endovascular aortic repair, minimally invasive spine surgery procedures, radiological anatomy of the lumbar spine, physics and operations of a CT scanner, CT scan quality and radiation dose, CT risks to the patient, proactive and reactive behavior, fight vs flight, strategies for changing behaviors, 2D digital screening mammography, technology of breast tomosynthesis, screening breast MRI in high risk women, sexual assault information, Kansas law and mandatory reporting, SANE medical-forensic exam, SANE services, pre hospital and emergency provider treatment of stroke, continuum of care between EMS and the emergency department, stroke signs and symptoms, and national time benchmarks for stroke patients.
The program is designed for radiologic technologists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and other interested health care professionals.
The fee is $75. HMC Associates, CAHs and PVCH fee is $37.50. Lunch is included.
