Three injured in weekend accidents

Two 15-year-old girls were taken to the Graham County Hospital in Hill City following a one-vehicle accident Saturday night.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Courtney Kenyon, Bogue, was northbound on 355th Avenue approximately a mile south of Bogue at 8:05 when a deer ran across the roadway in front of the pickup she was driving.

She lost control of her vehicle after swerving to avoid the deer, and the pickup slid sideways into the west ditch, where it rolled once and came to rest on its top.

Kenyon and her passenger, Lynzee Zeigler, Hill City, were wearing seat belts.

In another area accident Saturday, an Oakley man was injured in a rollover near his hometown.

Joshua Joe Ahrens, 34, was eastbound on U.S. Highway 40 approximately 8 miles west of Oakley at 10:30 p.m. when his vehicle lost control on a curve and left the roadway into the south ditch.

The vehicle rolled an unknown amount of times into a field, ejecting the driver. Ahrens was taken to the Logan County Hospital in Oakley.
