One killed in Monday accident in Sherman County

GOODLAND -- An accident at 8:50 a.m. Monday on Interstate 70 in Sherman County resulted in the death of a Kansas City, Kan., man.
Carlos Esqueda, 21, was driving eastbound on I-70 when he struck a patch of ice, lost control of the 2003 Chevy Trailblazer and entered the median. The vehicle rolled once, ejecting Esqueda. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels in the median.
Another male, 22-year-old Pablo Flores of Kansas City, Kan., was a passenger in the vehicle and was taken to Goodland Regional Medical Center with injuries, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol website.
Flores was wearing a seat belt, while Esqueda was not.
