FHSU baseball gets mercy ruled

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- The Fort Hays State University baseball team lost 19-8 to Northeastern (Okla.) State University in the final contest of a three-game road series Sunday afternoon. FHSU dropped to 21-17 overall, 17-16 MIAA. The Riverhawks improved to 21-17 MIAA, 21-17.
The game was called after seven innings because of the mercy rule. Jesse Hart (3-3) took the loss for the Tigers when he allowed six runs (five earned) with four hits in two innings.
Northeastern scored three runs in the first, two in the second, five in the third and eight in the fourth and finished with 16 hits. The Riverhawks hit five homers, including two from Kyle Singleton.
Senior second baseman Chris Santoscoy finished 3 of 3 with two runs scored and a RBI. Junior Horace Johnson homered for the Tigers.
