MARYVILLE, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University baseball team lost a road doubleheader Thursday to Northwest Missouri State University. Both games were 3-1.
The Tigers fell to 23-20 overall, 19-19 MIAA. Fort Hays has to wait on results from the Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University and University of Nebraska-Kearney series this weekend to see if it qualifies for the eight-team MIAA tournament. In Game 1, senior Tayler Davis (6-4) threw a complete game for the Tigers, but Austin Warren also threw a complete for the Bearcats. FHSU scored a run in the top of the fourth, while Northwest Missouri scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
In Game 2, FHSU led 1-0 entering the bottom of the ninth.
Senior Alex Ellison worked 8.1 innings before he allowed a run on a RBI double in the ninth inning. Junior Michael Edlefson worked the final two outs in the ninth and allowed a walk-off two-run homer in the 10th inning.
